CREATIVE RECYCLING_2015

Breathing new life into materials: our “Creative Recycling” scheme for schools.

A warehouse full to the brim and the prospect of having to dispose of materials that are no longer needed: this is where a simple yet meaningful idea was born, one capable of transforming waste into a resource. This is our “Creative Recycling” project.

In recent days, we have contacted numerous schools in the Val d’Enza and surrounding areas – starting with those attended by our employees’ children – organising a fair distribution of the available materials. The initiative actively involved all our staff and led to the delivery of large quantities of adhesive materials to around 20 institutions, including nurseries, schools and youth clubs, offering new creative and educational opportunities.

Elisa Mammi, Sales and Marketing Manager, explains the value of the project: “For us at Serigrafia 76, social responsibility has always been a core value, to be promoted through concrete actions. Our philosophy is focused on corporate welfare, in a context where the majority of our workforce are women. However, we also want to extend this vision to the local community, creating synergies with schools, associations and local authorities.”

Over time, we have developed various initiatives to support our employees and their families, including a company babysitting service, summer camps for employees’ children, the “Working Mums’ Day” and the “Women’s Wellbeing” seminar series, organised in collaboration with local organisations.

“The results have been very positive,” continues Elisa, “and have encouraged us to continue along this path. This gave rise to the idea of creative recycling: our production generates waste materials such as reels and sheets of coloured adhesive PVC. We like to think that what is waste for industry can become a free resource for educational projects.”

A concrete example of the circular economy and care for the local community, through which we aim to combine environmental sustainability with social value, giving new life to materials and stimulating the creativity of the younger generations.
